Peek-A-Boo!!

For those who are very CURIOUS only...

Pink sash will go! Alteration to be done. It's chosen by the crowd so I guess it should not go wrong. Beaded at the top is ok. Love the embroidery around the dress at the bottom though. You can't see it here. This pic is all messed up cause it's "illegally" captured!

Left with evening gown. I want hassle free, hopefully I could find something off the rack!

p/s: Ya, Miss OH... It's you I am indicating. Bleh!

The Hiccups So Far..

Our renovation began with two idiots who have no idea what to do with the house. We bought every magazine that publishes monthly hoping to see something we like. It did not work out as things we liked are of mixed theme that's why I had a post on ROJAK theme.

Our poor ID has proposed a few layout and design which had been rejected by us. The only one accepted was the kitchen and yet I still change some details at the end of the day.

Our schedule has always been pushing back, of many reasons.

We do not have a full proof of how our house will look like. We design our own house as it progresses. Many times, we wonder does the problem really lie on us especially when we have very different opinions.

Firstly, it begin on selecting the tiles which took weeks. And then it was deciding the laminate colors when he likes it maple and I like it dark walnut.

Then it came the miscommunication on the kitchen floor tiles which wasted another week to request for permit, hack and re-laying them.

Finally, the electrical and ceiling work began! ID noticed the L-Box was wrongly done and we were informed about it. And so when it was finally changed and redone, they found another problem, the length of the recess area within the L-Box was too short for the spotlight we have purchased. The worker were very reluctant to tear everything down and redo it again as it is going to be alot of work. Fortunately, ID managed to source from another lighting shop that fits.

Next, would be the very low ceiling in our house. Now, we worried what happened if the platform is up. Bf decided to reduce it to 3-inch and we wonder if a 3-inch platform will look abnormal..

Painting should start this Tues, but fickle minded us requested to hold till we meet him again on wed and final the colors. The white on white theme will seem to go.

The tv feature and console has been taking a long time to confirm the design as well. Due to some wiring problem. My ID and Bf is still in the midst of discussing how to make it seamless.

It's going to be unexpected. It's going to be a surprise. At least I have decided on the bombshelter feature.

Higher Flooring, Lower Ceiling

We had a long day. The pod speaker man came up to roughly take a look at the placements and handover a super long cable. Mr Bf is in charge of it as I am not technically inclined with the sound system.

Shortly after he left, our ID arrived. The very first thing he mentioned was he agreed that the headboard was too high and told his worker to amend it. Within the next minute, the headboard height was reduced.

As compared to other units, the flooring of our house is about 1-2 higher that makes Mr Bf quite unhappy. According to ID, this is because to level up with the screeding in the room which were done by HDB contractors. He told us the screeding was done higher than usual and it is pretty common among the works that were done by HDB contractors. I wonder if any forummers faced the same problem as us?

Bf felt we could have made a mistake in order to save cost, however he felt that our ID could also have warned us about it if he had already noticed it. And as compared to our neighbor, the aircon trunking below the beam in the center of our living was much lower too. That in turn causes the whole beam looks so much lower after box up and it is only 3-4inch above Bf's head. It felt like Bf is going to knock on his head everytime he walks under it. Despite the fact that he is tall, personally, I felt it is really low.

Other than that, we have also chosen the color of the paintings and discussed about the tv console, tv feature and bomb shelter feature today. ID wanted to cover as much as possible so that he could handover on time. He did mention there might be slight delay, which we didn't really mind.

We have purchased most lighting and just short of a standing lamp the living. Surprisingly, lightings stage was pretty fuss free and cheap. So far, including all ceiling lightings we have paid for from Chelsea, the dining and MBR lights, we spent a total of about $1600, which is so much within budget.

Let me end my post today with a picture of the foyer that was long done but never revealed before.

Look what we have gotten!

The latest purchase...

The lighting for our MBR. =)

Bad damage for BF. We cannot afford an excellent set of home theatre system, hence, we go for the aesthetic of it. =)

Electrical.Floors.The First Furniture

It's a record. I did not call my ID for more than three days and have not gone up to the house to take a look for almost the whole week. All because of the very tight schedule and hectic plans for the past few months that made me fall sick finally. Down with fever and very bad headache., twisted my wrist also. Dr said I needed rest. =(

I restored a little energy and went up to the house today.

The electrical work in the kitchen. =)

The L-Box for cove light is up! =)

That grey panel is the headboard for the bed. Lights will be shining above. I wonder if the headboard is a bit high. But then again we are expecting a platform. =|

The air-con trunking just below the beam, which makes our house ceiling even lower. Bf has been complaining that our house ceiling is very low. =(

Oh noticed.... The windows at the living room is up too. =)

The kitchen floor tiles. So glad that we redo it. It really worths it. It is exactly what we expected and we are happy now, at least. =)

The pebble wash at the shower area in common bathroom. =)

We went to IFC last week. We made the very first purchase for our furniture. This dining table from Lucano. One that both of us have no opinions about and love it at first sight. We ordered the smaller piece 150 x 85 in piano white. =)

Fridge.Cheongsam

A little bit for each today...

For the house.
In the end, we have chosen a Panasonic fridge. Model: NR-b403v-S6.

For the wedding.
We were exploring for cheongsam today. Thank god that we met Qing in Centrepoint! She had just sent her cheongsam to alter. She recommended us to the shop where she purchased her cheongsam. Mazzario. http://mazzario.blogspot.com

Everyone went crazy. There are lots of variety, cheongsam for all occasion, to suit all style, some that are demure, some that are sexy and some that are glamorous, yet not losing the original oriental look. It is really worth visiting Mazzario. I love what I have tried. I do not mind to make additional pieces to keep for occasions. They are lovely.

The First Appointment @ YC

Today was the actual first appointment with my bridal shop. I had my 2 sistas, Ying and Yen, my mum, my aunty and mr bf to come along with me. I was attended by the lady boss herself. We met one another once, and had basic understanding of one another too.

For today's appointment, she told me that she had prepared a few gowns for me to try on. I would say she does have a good understanding of what kind of gowns I will look nice in, however, none of the gowns are perfect. I am not saying that their gowns are not nice. What happened was, there is something that I like about every different gown, but I could not find a single gown that has everything i like. Even though, I have still shortlisted 2 out of so many I have tried. One that looks vintage and the other one that looks simple and classy.

I noticed a similarity as compared to doing my house. I cannot decide whether to choose something with style and unique, or to go with something that is timeless and classy.

I thought I will have my wedding gown made to measure (MTM) because my package includes either piece MTM. Yvonne wanted to create something that can reveal my body shape at the waist line and that looks sexy on me for my evening gown (EG).

Yet, I requested to try on one can-can looking EG in beautiful, unique orange and black beading on the rack. It caught my eye. Never did we expect, it turned out really stunning. Mr bf likes it too. Including the rest except Yen who took awhile to like it. Unfortunately, Yvonne has enough material to make only one exclusive piece. She was telling us that the material is from Italy and it is too expensive for her to make too many pieces with it for her packages available would not be able to cover the cost. Then, she took out another itlaian purchased material in yellow with black french lace for me to try. It is simply gorgeous!! Just so princess!!

I dreamt a fairytale like wedding. I have no idea what theme. I was thinking, if i am going to choose that vintage one, the theme will be it and vice versa.

All I could say now is, I really like both EG that I have tried on. Ying loves both too. I think the rest as well. Sooo.. which one? which one?

I can't wait for my next appointment to come soon.

Small Hiccups | Rojak Theme

The very first thing after I reached my home and dropped my bag was changed and walked to our house to see the progress of the tiles work. Bf called me over the weekend regarding the kitchen floor tiles. It was not laid staggered which we wanted and according to Steven , we did not mention it to him. On my part, I remembered Bf didn't like 2x1 tiles even when Steven was recommending to lay it staggered till he saw an example in the magazine. That's what made us finally picked the 2x1 tiles. I choose to let it be a miscommunication. I want to hear solution. Very outrightly, we asked about the cost to hacked and redo. Most likely, we will split the cost. But now, I was thinking if we should go through the trouble and spend that additional few hundreds bucks. Decisions again. It sucks la.

Anyway, some picture to share.

1) The kitchen I am talking about. Look! It's almost 3/4 done! The fridge and cabinet base is up also lor....
2) Common toilet. One place that we did not really bother about and totally leave it up to Steven. We have NOT even seen a 3D drawing of it. It's quite a pleasant surprise, when we least expected it.

3) MBR toilet. The rustic tiles are up! Hmmm.... Bf thinks it's nice. I shall just say it's different.

4) Living. View from the inside to the living room.

Suddenly, I realised the theme of our home.. it's ROJAK Theme!!
