Love Is A Great Thing

I was working on the vows and I came across this poem.
So real yet so beautiful..

So imperfect and yet perfect!

“Love Is A Great Thing” by Thomas à Kempis

Love is a great thing, yea, a great and thorough good. By itself it makes that is heavy light; and it bears evenly all that is uneven.

It carries a burden which is no burden; it will not be kept back by anything low and mean; it desires to be free from all wordly affections, and not to be entangled by any outward prosperity, or by any adversity subdued.

Love feels no burden, thinks nothing of trouble, attempts what is above its strength, pleads no excuse of impossibility. It is therefore able to undertake all things, and it completes many things, and warrants them to take effect, where he who does not love would faint and lie down.

Though weary, it is not tired; though pressed it is not straitened; though alarmed, it is not confounded; but as a living flame it forces itself upwards and securely passes through all.

Love is active and sincere, courageous, patient, faithful, prudent and manly.

The Make Up Artists.

27th December, Sydney

I received two overseas calls, respectively from two Make Up Artists on my wedding day.

One of them was engaged for my mum and mother-in-law to be for the evening. Over the line, she went one big round to explain to me what happened to the other corporate function that is going to be held on the same day as my wedding. And she's still explaining that I have to cut her off and bring her straight to the point. I did not mean to be rude, but it's an OVERSEAS call! And so.. She is not available and has taken the initiative to find another Make up artist to replace her, who has the same experiences as her named, Jennifer Choo. She seeks my understanding. I am also left without a choice, do I?

I have not seen the work of Jennifer's. I hope my mums will just be happy with them. As long as they are happy, I am glad enough to be shut away from nags, for at least on my wedding day!

Later in the evening, I received another call. This time is from my main Make Up Artist! A few weeks before I have already mentioned that my groom will pick me up at 8am in the morning. And that's the earliest! She told me if she could come and do my make up at 5:30am in the morning!

5:30am can!

Let's picture this, so if i am done with my make up in an hour time, and that is even before 7am! I will have to wait for an hour and a half for the groom to arrive! And within that an hour and a half, I will be so sleepy and the most torture part is I could not lie down and sleep. My sisters will not have arrive yet too!

Not only that, it will incur additional charges for my videographer! What!?

Fine. Let's wait and see what she will come back to me.

I trusted their professionalism. Now I felt so betrayed.

Even make up artisits want to play a fool with me.

The more I went into planning of the wedding, the more I feel that I am doing it for the elderly. I kind of regretted on every options I have made, however, it looks like everyone is telling me I am left without a choice.

I was even reprimanded for the touch of black for the sisters' dress.

I am trying to find the meaning for what have been done.

It's my down time.

I am upset, angry, frustrated.

West meets East Theme? Huh?

I need help! I just didn't like the 2 ballroom themes provided by the hotel. I cannot come up with a decision still. (you may like to click on the pictures to have a better view)

Enchanting Garden Theme

Firstly, it's the Enchanted Garden Theme. The white bird cages and doves are lovely, however, it looks really sparse. Something is just not right with the pedestal stand and the VIP table center piece. The worst is that Merchant Court only has VIP table cloth in RED, GOLD, CREAM and BLUE to choose from. Blue seemed the only one suitable for a garden theme, however, it may look a little corporate. However, the theme will definitely go with yam roses, with additional pink and cream color to it.

Oriental Romance Theme

And then, it is the Oriental Romance Theme. Frankly, I only see the Oriental without the Romance. It looks grand. However, my evening gown is already in red and I do not want to become another ornament of the ballroom theme. Well, the solution is I could change the color of the flowers. However, if you really take note at the stage set up and the pedestal stand, you notice dangling glasses in red. They are not removable, hence, I wonder if pastel colors will be suitable. Not only that, the harsh burgundy glass centerpiece and black pedestal stand might also be too much of a contrast if I am going to stick to pastel flowers colors.

There's one thing that has confirmed was the florist will put up ivory color sash to cover the red back drop.

I really didn't like the botakness of the Enchanted Garden theme. I would love to keep the oriental theme with yam and cream roses and maybe a little pink will subtle the contrast... What do you all think?

Will they clash?

Again, the red dangling glasses are not removable. Sounds like West meets East.... Rojak once again!

How?

Never did I expect that I will be so bothered by this.

Ok... I want to be a happy bride!

Oriental gowns meets Enchanting Garden theme.

If it's going to be a garden theme ballroom, with oriental cheongsum and red evening gown......

Oh my god... it's rojak theme again.....

Rebecca, the hotel coordinator, was suggesting yam and cream color rose.... I supposed it should turn out like what is shown in the picture. Hmm... pretty much acceptable.

Ding Dong!

It's ONE more month to go for the new born Mr and Mrs! =)

We just began to write the invitation and shall arrange to distribute them soon.

On the 12th, we will be meeting our hotel coordinator to discuss on the Actual Day details and the theme for the ballroom. I am beginning to feel lazy and really do not know what I should expect.

On the 16th, it's our Guo Da Li, I am left with a few more items to buy.

Before I really started planning for this wedding, I have talked to many colleagues and friends who are married. I learned about things to note from them. Almost all also mentioned to me that the table arrangement would cause most headache and expect many changes even on the Actual Day itself.

It looks like I am quite prepared for it. I am still waiting for a short list of colleagues to confirm their attendance, my bf already has friends and relatives who told us one by one that they cannot attend...

I have stopped adding people into my guest list and shall just wait till 1 or 2 weeks later to start arranging the tables seating.

Ya! It's going to be a joyous one! Everything is going to fall in place!
Woohoo....

Just a Note.

Well, we have seen the touch up.
They did it mainly for the face to neck area.
We were there mainly to spot imperfection at our tummy, legs, arms....
It's amazing how they reconstruct it. from bulging to flattest tummy ever...
and my ugly underarms.
my girlfriend should know what I meant.

I picked a short dress for the solemnization.
In case my girlfriends start shouting at me, "huh!! poolside wear cheong sum?!"
I knew Bf will like the particular dress the best as the pong pong, fairy tale short dresses are too cute for him to accept. Well... ok lor, so i took the simple short dress which I commented that I will look like any other guests.

But... it's simple, nice and elegant. One of the coordinator says, it looks more class lor.

Well, I am quite spoiled with choices over those short dresses. Every piece looks wow...

p/s: the more i look at my photos, the more i really didn't like it. don't bother to ask me for reasons. See it for yourself when the album is ready. oh... i must say it's not totally ugly, it's just really not the style I liked. Well, I should have knew it. So, it's fine.

Crazy little things

Dear all,

The big day is really drawing nearer and nearer. Things are moving in pace I think, or rather they just appear when I need it! I was in Hongkong for the past 2 days. Near Prince Edward Station there is this building call 金都商场 that sells all wedding related stuffs, bling bling shoes, hair accessories, jewellery, bridal shops, wedding planning and production firms, anything under the wedding sun on all 4 levels!! I found out, Hongkong brides they actually use fake flowers for AD bouquet. But they are still very pretty. So many choices of Ang Pows!! But I already bought from Chinatown Singapore :(. But!! Look what I have gotten from there?!

WRIST CORSAGES!! Ok I am a little overwhelmed. Ok I bought wrist corsages for my sisters and matching one for the brothers to pin on their shirt! The only difference is the ribbon comes in silver for the brothers!

The ironic thing I realised is, it has been all these sweet accessories for the wedding that makes me really excited! Not so much on the wedding. I also did not really hope it will be over soon. It's like not much feelings to it yet. Not stress, not panic (like wedding band still not send for manufacture), not excited. Maybe I am considered quite lucky. My mum is more fussy than his parents, so it is so much easier to "communicate" for what I preferred and want!! Wahaha!! Although, many times it ended up ugly. Call me a spoilt child!

And I know things will naturally fall in place when the day arrives!

I never never expect that I will buy so many pairs of heels!!!!
I wonder why I never get to see the next two pairs earlier, in that case I would not have splurge on the first pair!! But I love them all!!! I am planning to wear these 3 pairs on my wedding! I think I am too much but simply cannot resist! The consolation would be I have more pairs of evening heels!!

I will wear a different one to a different gf's wedding in future. Hahaha...
Suddenly I am crazy over my heels.

So, my first pair would be this. I guess most of you have seen it on pictures. It's from Takashimaya. Only after then I was told it is carried by the shoe company my mum is promoting for!! @#$%^

The second pair. Discreetly bought this from Far East Plaza cause I already feel bad about spending on a second pair. I thought I would just show it on the day... But well...

And follow by the last one... Bought this at 金都商场. It's only for about SGD $52. BUY!

Alright, that's more or less on the latest for the coming big day.

Good night world!

Love,
~nellez. =)

Ready to see layout.

A few seconds ago, I just ended a phone call to inform us that our photos layout and editing is ready to view. =)

Getting the look and wedding band.

I want to get these looks for the evening! Hopefully I do not turn out looking like a "Ah Hua". I thought it's really sensuous, sexy and dainty. I hope I can carry it off! I have even requested to custom make a pair of dangling earrings with red crystal at the end. Exclusively mine by Colorz!

The earring and our wedding bands are on the way!!

Inserts Ready.

Nothing really in particular. The preparation was put to a stop for a while. All that I know was the inserts are ready for collection. We will be collecting it on Monday. On Tuesday, I will be going shopping with my mum for GDL. We are left with ordering of giveaway cakes and booking of buffets.

I wanted very much to start planning for the theme of the banquet. However, I am not sure how much access am I given to enhance the theme, thus will have to wait till I meet up with my coordinator.

At the same time, I am considering a live band for our wedding. Currently, I am asking around for the best deal within our budget - $1k. ha..

Wedding band is not ready as well. keke... omg.. sounds like I really need to move my ass abit faster.

Did I miss out anything else? Hmmm...

The Matrimonial House (Finale)

Our house has finally come to an official completion. We manage to add a little colors to the White and Grey theme. It's such a coincident that the accessories we bought were in the same color for each area. Uncluttered and simple. I hope to keep it this way throughout the years of staying. =)

We are still short of necessities like a 5 cups rice cooker, electrical pot for steam boat, panasonic microwave and a Philip blender. Ask me for the model if you have the intention to buy for us. :p

I am also looking around for a tea set (not the tea ceremony ones) for my home, so that I can make some floral tea for my girlfriends, have some scones and muffins, enjoying a lovely afternoon together. hehe....

Anyway, all this can come slowly. Let me show you around to our very first owned house...

Welcome....

The Humble Entrance.
Yellow and black to enhance the industrial looking Foyer...

When dinner shall begin, please enjoy...

Take a break at the hall....
Living hall needed some live... perhaps some fake plants, a beautiful vase and some pretty flowers...

How about a game together?

If you needed some time alone...

Find the bombshelter and entrance to the kitchen.

The lady owner territory..
It's red for the Kitchen. Everything just came in concidentally in Red. =)

Like the bread toaster as well, it was a gift...
A small counter for a quick breakfast...

And... Welcome to our bedroom..

The Dressing Room...

And where we cuddle....

Need a shower? Not here, but the common toilet.. :p

May you rest well in the guest room... :)

Tea Ceremony Tea Set

I read somewhere in the internet that this girl uses the tea set passed down by her mum. It was so beautiful, I thought. I was told I might still be able to buy it from Chinatown. Then again, the thing is, it would be very special if it is something that was passing down from the past generation, isn't it?

At home, I pestered my mum for hers but she could not remember where it was anymore and yet she did not remember throwing it. Then she assumed it was with her brother, my uncle, and auntie-in-law, trying to think that she lent it to them for their wedding.

Last week, mum paid a visit to my grandmother, her mother-in-law. As they were talking about what to buy for GDL, my grandmother brought up that the my mum's tea set was still well kept at home!

I felt a little excited to hear that.

I received the tea set all wrapped with newspapers. The first I grabbed was the long standing tea pot. Ah! It's exactly the same like I saw. Then the cups, and then the tray. Now I saw the real thing. The tea set is in pearly white and pink, gold trimmings and handles that make the whole thing shines.

Thank you grandmother for still keeping it. It's becoming my treasure. =)

Print Inserts and so on.

At last, we ordered to print the inserts for our wedding invitation cards. Nothing really fanciful. Just normal printing with a little swanky icon chosen by Mr Groom-to-be. $90 for 300 inserts. (www.focal-ad.com)

Even though, it might just be another invitation card, I simply love the maroon (neither orange red nor chilli red) with the tradition hot stamped "Xi" in gold and the oriental button. The lady was suggesting to tie a string around to hold the inserts. However, I choose to paste it on with double sided tape myself, in case it will spoil the feel of the card.

Vintage is modern traditional.

Currently, am browsing the website for wedding giveaway cakes, buffets caterings and ideas to enhance the Enchanting Garden theme provided by the hotel which I did not quite fancy but it's like a better choice as compared with the oriental theme.

Let my imagination runs wild.
